Dream of Power

·4 min read·866 words
I find myself in a mall, fully aware and awakened. I've morphed myself into a mother, carrying a child who is a transformed balloon. Endowed with my powers, I feel no fear. We walk towards an assembly in my old hometown, commemorating our high school's anniversary. At the base of the stairs, I spot the girl I liked in high school, along with her sister and a friend. We approach the stairway leading into a class hall. Observing the crowds using the stairs, I opt instead to simply pass through the railing and float gently to the floor below. The girl and her friends notice my unconventional descent. Once I'm below, they approach, urging me to be more careful with my "baby." I then morph into my present self, and the baby reverts to its balloon form. I explain what I am and that, in that moment, I simply wished to experience motherhood. We enter the classroom; nothing has started yet. I stand with them, chatting and exchanging stories. They express keen interest in my powers, so I demonstrate by morphing in and out of various forms. I recount a story about a man I met who found inner peace by completely letting himself go. This man has almost transcended this plane of existence through this practice, and I follow his path. I tell them I no longer go by the name they used to know me by, but by a different one. Suddenly, I am interrupted by some other kids I knew, who begin mocking me and calling me "trans." I explain that I am a mother because I wish to care for a child, but it is merely a role I chose. I try to enlighten them, but they seem shallow and continue mocking, failing to understand. I then spawn new balloons, instructing them to morph into various forms and teach all the ignorant and shallow individuals present a lesson. I then leave the classroom, sealing the path behind me. I hear the balloons kill, or at least seriously injure, some of them. I then leave the school, sealing even more paths. I arrive at my childhood home, ready to depart. I have nothing with me for my journey; I don't even have a car to drive away. I pass my dad's car as I head out. For a second, I consider asking to borrow it (though, as I'm never coming back, it would effectively be taking it), but I decide I don't need it. I start walking and, noticing some large rocks beside the road, I morph them into a car. While driving, I reach what should be the town's exit, but it's blocked by a giant upcoming festival. A play is being rehearsed there. I go to observe; it's a play about an emperor and empress. I inquire who the emperor is, as I only see an empress. The empress seems to think it's me. We approach the playwright, who doesn't know. I then wave my hand over him, and he bends his knees, telling me it is indeed me. We continue preparing, and I become entranced by the play itself. It's about how the emperor's friend finds the love of his life and proposes to her, and also meets the future emperor. While preparing, a person from the school approaches and recounts what happened earlier to some of the people. For a second, I wonder if I should hide my face in a new form, or if I should stand as myself regardless. Passion overtakes me, and I make a giant "slice" in that moment. I decide to remain myself, and in that "slice," I also cut through heaven and earth, carving a part into the very core of the world. The mountain beyond yonder forest is gone, and the mountain itself is elevated. This dramatic change causes people to surround me, both in awe and fear of my power. They seem to know it was me, yet also perceive me as the emperor. I then behold my own power and embrace it. I then reshape space and time itself around me. First, I clear everything around me, so we all stand in a void. I then create a massive highway, large enough to accommodate the world's traffic. I then build a stadium big enough to fill the world, where previously it was only large enough for a town. I observe some men on the ground conducting experiments, studying my creations. I go over to them and tell them "not today," reminding them it's the day of a grand festival. I then create the stage and all its props, and within it, I fashion a house where I place the ring for my friend to use for his proposal in the play. The entire crew, and even he, tell me that as thanks, they are letting me propose alongside him, to give me a bigger role in the play. I tell them no; this play is meant to express gratitude to the man who helped me become emperor, and its focus should remain on him. He begins laughing in joy, realizing all of this is to show gratitude to someone else.
