Apocalyptic Flood & Family
·2 min read·253 words
The dream's beginning is hazy, but I recall being in a city with others on what felt like doomsday. A nuclear bomb was imminent. Suddenly, Poseidon appeared, flooding the entire world until the water surpassed even the tallest skyscrapers. The bomb detonated. I floated there in my hazmat suit and parachute, ready for the end. Our Geiger counters began clicking, signaling radiation, but we waited, and only the water seemed to grow hotter.
Then, our parachutes began filling with some unknown gas, causing us to float into the air. We drifted away until we discovered a small island that appeared safe. I suggested to everyone that we should check on each other to ensure everyone was alright. My parents were among the survivors. My stepmother immediately objected, seemingly just because the suggestion came from me. She told my dad to back her up, and he did.
I confronted them, stating that one of them always seemed to object to my ideas, not based on the content, but simply because I had voiced them. They then used each other to back up their objections, even when one secretly agreed with the original statement. I then approached someone they both trusted and asked, "What just happened to us all?" They confirmed it was "the worst things that could happen" and "the end of the world." Then, they asked if it was truly wise to check on everyone. After a moment, the person agreed with my original suggestion, and so, we proceeded to check on everyone.
