A Cycle of Waking Dreams and a Theological Encounter

·1 min read·181 words
The dream began in a room where I was sleeping, continuously disturbed by awakenings. It had elements of sleep paralysis, yet I maintained a degree of conscious awareness that I was dreaming. My first awakening was caused by a large black puma. I then drifted back to sleep. Next, a cat woke me. Despite knowing it wasn't a real cat, I decided to pet him anyway before falling asleep once more. I then woke up with a strong craving for cannabis, searching through cupboards only to find nothing. This cycle of craving and fruitless searching repeated two more times. Falling asleep again, I awoke to resume my search for cannabis. However, I noticed the door open, and a man entered. He bore a striking resemblance to my waking-life self but was dressed differently. He posed the question, "Who am I?" I replied, "I don't know." He prompted me to guess, and I offered, "St. Augunis." He nodded in acknowledgment. I then asked, "Aren't you that pseudo-philosopher?" immediately correcting myself, "Oh, you are a theologian." I subsequently apologized for the initial mischaracterization.
